He spent much of his childhood in New Orleans, Louisiana. 

After high school, he attended the University of New Orleans. Around 2005, Hurricane Katrina damaged facilities and his recording environment which impacted his academic and musical path. 

Music Career Beginnings

He moved to Los Angeles to pursue music. 

Early work included songwriting for other artists, e.g. Beyoncé, Justin Bieber, John Legend. 

He was also affiliated with the hip-hop collective Odd Future.
